Situated in the north of the Deux-Sèvres department, the Thouarsais is ideally located between the Loire Valley and the Atlantic coast. The 24 communes offer a varied landscape of agricultural plains, hedged farmland and vineyards. The GR36 and the Vélo Francette, two major national walking and cycling routes, cross the area and allow visitors to discover our natural, historical, cultural and leisure heritage.
St Cyr la Lande
The commune of Saint-Cyr-la-Lande is made up of four villages: Saint-Cyr-la-Lande, Baugé, Férolles, and Varanne. It is located in the far northeast of the Deux-Sèvres department, on the border with Maine-et-Loire. The commune is part of the canton of Val de Thouet and lies within the small agricultural region known as the Plain of Thouars.
The D362 departmental road crosses the commune from east to west, providing access to the D938, which connects Parthenay and Montreuil-Bellay. Saint-Cyr-la-Lande is located about 10 kilometers from both Thouars and Montreuil-Bellay, and 30 kilometers from the center of Saumur—a town of around 30,000 residents and the largest in the area.
The commune covers an area of approximately 903 hectares. Forty-six farmers work the local land. In 2017, there were 171 housing units, including 147 main residences. As of January 1, 2018, the population stood at 352.
